ABOUT
About this tournament.
The Kisei is a title organized by the Yomiuri Shimbun, the Nihon Ki-in and the Kansai Ki-in, and one of Go's seven major titles (special sponsor: Suntory Holdings). Players who climb through the 4-tier S, A, B and C leagues compete for the right to challenge, and the challenger plays a best-of-seven against the Kisei.
Watching notes
Each player has 8 hours in the title match, among the longest of the seven major titles along with the Meijin. The weighty battles, with long thinks at each move, are the highlight. The challenger decision is an irregular best-of-three where the S League winner starts with a 1-win advantage.
